Sustainability

At Fresh Press Farms, we believe in taking care of the environment while producing the freshest, highest quality oils. We implement a range of sustainable practices to minimize our impact on the planet and promote a healthy ecosystem.

Vertically Integrated

Fresh Press Farms is proud to be the only mill in the USA that grows, harvests, presses, and bottles oils all in the same place!
Fresh Press Farms is proud to be the only vertically integrated mill in the USA. This means that we control every aspect of the production process, from growing the olives to harvesting, pressing, and bottling the oil. By doing so, we can ensure that our oils are of the highest quality and freshness - from our grove to your pantry in less than 3 months, instead of the industry average of 18-24 months! Our tree-to-table philosophy means that our oils are minimally processed, improving your health, and tasting like the agricultural product it came from.

Social Responsibility

Fresh Press Farms provides world-class health insurance for our farm team!
We believe that social responsibility is a critical part of sustainability, and that's why we offer world-class health insurance to our farm team. In Georgia, fewer than 15% of farm teams have access to health insurance. By providing comprehensive health insurance to our farm team, we are ensuring that they have access to the care they need to stay healthy and productive.

Water Conservation

Fresh Press Farms is proud to be the olive grove with the lowest water use per acre in the USA!
Water conservation is a crucial part of our sustainability efforts, and we are proud to be the olive grove with the lowest water use per acre in the USA. We achieve this through our 100% drip irrigation process, which allows us to conserve water while still providing our trees with the hydration they need. We also use ground sensors to monitor soil moisture levels, which helps us optimize our irrigation schedule and conserve even more water.

No Chemical Fertilizers

Fresh Press Farms uses micronutrients instead of chemical fertilizers!

At Fresh Press Farms, we go beyond analyzing foliage and using micronutrients as an alternative to chemical fertilizers to ensure sustainability in our farming practices. We actively utilize every part of the olive tree to minimize waste and promote organic fertilization.

One of our sustainable practices involves pruning the olive trees regularly. Rather than discarding the trimmed pieces, we turn them into mulch. This organic mulch acts as a natural fertilizer, enriching the soil and providing essential nutrients back to the trees.

Additionally, we take extra steps to repurpose the pits of our olives. We de-pomace the pits by tilling them into the ground, where they decompose naturally and serve as a nutrient-rich fertilizer. This process ensures that no part of the olive goes to waste, and we contribute to the long-term health of our soil in a sustainable and eco-friendly manner.

Sustainable, Endlessly Recyclable Packaging

Fresh Press Farms uses proprietary aluminum bottles that are infinitely recyclable!
We believe that sustainable packaging is critical to reducing our environmental impact, and that's why we use proprietary metal bottles that are infinitely recyclable. Aluminum is the best barrier to oxygen, which causes the oxidation of oil and a loss of olfactory characteristics. Our bottles also protect the product from harmful UV light that destroys vitamins and accelerates rancidity. And unlike plastic or glass, aluminum is the only material that is truly recycled in the USA, and can be recycled indefinitely in a like usage.

Certifications

Fresh Press Farms is a Green Business Certified company that ensures sustainable practices!
We are committed to transparency and accountability when it comes to sustainability, and that's why we have earned Green Business Certification. This certification ensures that we are implementing sustainable practices in every aspect of our business, from energy and emissions to consumption and waste, workplace and culture, water use, transportation, and community and society. This certification demonstrates our commitment to sustainability and gives our customers confidence that they are supporting a truly sustainable business.
We are currently working to attain our B Corp status. That status is specifically for for-profit companies that meet the highest standards of social and environmental performance, transparency and accountability!

Upcycling

We're proud to reduce waste and find new purposes for materials!
At Fresh Press Farms, we are passionate about embracing upcycling as a key component of our commitment to sustainability. Through innovative practices, we actively seek ways to reduce waste and repurpose materials to minimize our environmental impact.

One of our upcycling initiatives involves transforming cardboard shippers into new recycled boxes using our state-of-the-art machine. Instead of discarding cardboard packaging, we process it to create high-quality recycled boxes, reducing our reliance on new packaging materials and promoting a circular economy.

Additionally, we also extract and repurpose olive pits using an extractor. These pits can find new life as a sustainable fuel source for BBQs or as an environmentally friendly option for kitty litter.

By upcycling materials like cardboard and olive pits, we embrace a sustainable future by giving them new purposes and contributing to a more eco-friendly approach in our operations.
