INGREDIENTS
- 1 can (15 oz) of chickpeas (garbanzo beans), drained and rinsed
- 1/4 cup tahini (sesame paste)
- 1/4 cup Fresh Press Farms Classic Olive Oil
- 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cumin
- Salt to taste
- Water (as needed)
- Optional toppings: drizzle of olive oil, paprika, chopped parsley
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, olive oil, minced garlic, lemon juice, cumin, and a pinch of salt.
- Blend the mixture until it becomes a smooth paste. If the mixture is too thick, add a little water (start with 2 tablespoons) to achieve your desired consistency. Continue blending and adding water as needed.
- Taste the hummus and adjust the salt, lemon juice, or other seasonings to your preference. If you'd like a creamier texture, you can continue blending for a bit longer.
- Once the hummus reaches your desired consistency and taste, transfer it to a serving bowl.
- To serve, create a little well in the center of the hummus using a spoon and drizzle some extra-virgin olive oil into the well. You can also sprinkle some paprika and chopped parsley on top for added flavor and presentation.
- Serve the hummus with pita bread, vegetable sticks, or crackers. It's also great as a spread on sandwiches or as a dip for various snacks.
- Leftover hummus can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
