Winter Peach Cider Vinegar Mulled Wine
Warm up during the cold winter months with this aromatic mulled wine recipe, enhanced with the subtle tang of Peach Cider Vinegar. The unique flavor profile of the vinegar adds depth to the traditional spiced wine, making it a comforting drink to enjoy by the fireplace.
INGREDIENTS
- 1 bottle (750 ml) of red wine (preferably a fruity variety like Merlot or Zinfandel)
- 1/4 cup Fresh Press Farms Peach Cider Vinegar
- 1/4 cup honey or sugar
- 1 orange, sliced
- 1 lemon, sliced
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 6-8 whole cloves
- 2 star anise
- Optional: a splash of brandy or orange liqueur for added warmth
INSTRUCTIONS
- In a large pot, combine the wine, Peach Cider Vinegar, honey (or sugar), and the slices of orange and lemon.
- Add in the cinnamon sticks, whole cloves, and star anise.
- Heat the mixture over low heat until it is warm, but not boiling. This should take about 20-25 minutes. It's essential not to let the mixture boil to preserve the alcohol content.
- Once the mulled wine is heated and the flavors have melded together, you can add a splash of brandy or orange liqueur if desired.
- Strain out the spices and fruit slices, then pour the mulled wine into mugs.
- Garnish with an additional slice of orange or a cinnamon stick, if desired.
Chef’s Note: Pair this drink with some soft cheeses and crusty bread for a cozy winter evening treat. The Peach Cider Vinegar adds a unique twist, giving the traditional mulled wine a refreshing and tangy edge.
